What is the ADC?
The ADC, Catalan Diabetics Association is an entity that links diabetic people, tutors of diabetic children, relatives and supporters aware of the problems that this handicap means. It is an association that seeks neither economic benefits nor political or religious interest. Its main aim is to help and defend the diabetic.
The ADC’s aims are to INFORM, ADVICE, HELP and DEFEND the diabetic. It also contributes to foment the RESEARCH, to increase the QUALITY of public assistance and to promote the rest of the society’s AWARENESS of the problems that affect the diabetic and his/her life.
The ADC was created in 1992, being born from the union of 9 former associations in Catalunya:
On January 9, 1993 took place at Manresa the 1a Assemblea General Constituent and the Consell Directiu (Directive Council), which represents all delegations, was born.
Now the ADC is formed by 26 delegations; each one acts at its area looking after what the associated people demand in terms of necessities. At the same time, each one of them has a board of managers that is responsible of the delegation’s welfare.
All delegations have now representation at the Consell Directiu, which was voted on June 19, 2004. Its members are:
